Economic Analysis of Grape Production (Case Study: Firoz Nakhjir District, Samangan Province)

Abstract

This paper examines the economic aspects of grape production in the Firoz Nakhjir district of Samangan province. Given the significant role of the agricultural sector in Afghanistan's economy, grapes have been considered one of the country's strategic agrarian products. This study was conducted using data collected from 120 grape farmers, and the data were analyzed using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. The results indicate that various factors such as irrigation, the use of white fertilizer, and labor have a positive and significant impact on grape yields. In contrast, the use of machinery had an adverse effect. Economic indicators such as Total Revenue (TR), Gross Margin (GM), and Return on Investment (ROI) were also analyzed, revealing a challenging yet potentially improvable economic situation in the region. The findings of this research can serve as a basis for economic decision-making and policy development related to agricultural growth.
